Cancellation policies

Every Space Share listing displays its cancellation tier before you book. Hosts pick one of three options below — your refund window depends on which tier the host has set.

Best for last-minute, easy bookings

  • Full refund if guests cancel at least 24 hours before check-in
  • After that, the first night is non-refundable; remaining nights are refunded
  • 100% refund of unused nights if the guest checks out early
Best for: Casual stays, short trips, and hosts who want max booking velocity.
Moderate

Moderate

Balanced — recommended default

  • Full refund if guests cancel at least 5 days before check-in
  • 50% refund if cancelled within 5 days of check-in
  • First night is non-refundable after check-in begins
Best for: Most vacation rentals and weekend stays.
Strict

Strict

Protects high-demand and premium dates

  • 50% refund if cancelled at least 7 days before check-in
  • No refund within 7 days of check-in
  • Non-refundable deposits standard for premium event venues
Best for: Premium stays, event venues, and peak-season dates that fill quickly.

Extenuating circumstances

Regardless of the listing's tier, Space Share may issue a full refund when guests are affected by a verified event outside their control:

  • Serious illness, hospitalization, or death in the immediate family
  • Government-issued travel restrictions affecting the destination
  • Natural disasters or major infrastructure failures
  • Host cancellations — guests are always fully refunded plus a 10% rebooking credit

How to cancel

  1. 1Open the booking from your Trips page.
  2. 2Tap Cancel reservation and confirm.
  3. 3Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

Hosts who cancel

Hosts who cancel a confirmed booking are charged a $50 service fee and the cancelled dates may be blocked on their calendar to protect future guests. Guests receive a full refund plus a 10% rebooking credit toward a comparable stay.
