Inclusion & Accessibility
A space for everyone, hosted by everyone.
Space Share exists because every kind of space — and every kind of guest, host, creator, and neighbour — should have a seat at the table. From wheelchair-accessible cabins to community-run event halls, we’re building a marketplace that mirrors the communities we serve.
Our non-discrimination policy
Every host and every guest agrees to our Community Commitment before they can book or be booked. Discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital or family status, disability, age, or pregnancy is strictly prohibited.
Violations result in immediate listing removal and account termination. We don’t give second chances on this — and we don’t require survivors to provide receipts to believe them.
Accessibility standards on listings
Hosts are required to disclose accessibility information honestly. Each listing surfaces the following filters so guests can find a space that actually works for them:
- Step-free entry
- Single-floor living
- Wide doorways (≥ 32 inches)
- Roll-in shower / accessible bathroom
- Grab bars and shower seat
- Hearing-accessible alarms and doorbells
- Visual / vibrating notifications
- Service-animal welcome
- Adjustable-height bed
- Ramped or elevator access
- Step-free entrance
- Lit pathways and entry
If a listing’s photos or layout don’t match the accessibility tags, message the host or report it — we audit reported listings within 24 hours.
Community-owned hosts on Space Share
We work with community-owned hosts, local tourism groups, and neighbourhood organizations to highlight spaces rooted in the places they serve. With each host’s explicit consent, listings can show community context, stewardship details, and local funds connected to the booking.
Multilingual by default
The entire Space Share experience — listings, messaging, support, and legal documents — supports multiple languages as we expand. Hosts publish in their preferred language; guests see translations automatically where available.
LGBTQ2S+ welcome
Hosts can opt into the rainbow badge after agreeing to our queer-welcoming standard, which goes beyond “tolerance” to active affirmation: gendered language is your choice, partners and chosen family are recognized, and any pronouns are respected.
If you experienced discrimination
We take every report seriously, even those without proof. Email support@spaceshare.ca or use the in-app report button on the booking. We’ll respond within one business day, rebook or refund where appropriate, and follow through on the host or guest involved.
